CARDS OF 1933

1933 Was a great year for non-sport trading cards as far as I'm concerned and I'm sure many collectors would agree. Some of the most sought after and expensive cards came out that year.

 

TOOTSIE CIRCUS  (R152) 25 card set

This is a very popular set and has been going up the past several years. In 2005 a 8 card lot with most in nice condition sold for only $120.  More recently a complete PSA graded set with GPA of 4.57 SOLD for $5,767 in 2012 at Legendary Auctions web site.

   Currently as of 2104 the "Monkey's" card to the right SOLD for $141 even with all the multiple creases. The Acrobats card below with creases and rounded corners Sold for only $12.50.  The Graded Monkeys PSA 1 SOLD for $180. Other grades on Ebay are offered from $150 for a PSA 1.5  to $400 for a PSA 4.

NOAH'S ARK by Flatbush Gum (R100) 24 card set

    The Noah's Ark trading card set was produced by Flatbush Gum in 1933, in packages marked 'Noah's Ark Gum'. There were 24 unnumbered cards in the set, each measuring 2-3/8" by 2-7/8".

  The Hippo Sold on Ebay for $26, several others in low grade condition and some paper loss are on Ebay for around $30. The Gorilla is in better condition and offered for $149.  The PSA 5 graded Zebra below which is a high grade for these cards and is considred the last card in set is on Ebay offered for $699.

  The wrapper is offered on Ebay for $450 or best offer.

The set contains 48 cards with the high numbers 25-48 being scarce. Card numbers 1-24 carry either a Boston or Montreal copyright on the back while cards 25-48 carry the Montreal copyright. The high numbers can also be found with English, French, or Bilingual text. Famous pirates in this set include Capt. Teach (Blackbeard), Captain Kidd, Sir Francis Drake, Sir Henry Morgan, and many others.
