1968 TOPPS BASEBALL PLAKS "TEST"
The Topps Plaks test issue of 1968 was a departure for Topps in many ways. The depiction of two-dozen of baseball's biggest stars in the form of plastic die-cast busts was more akin to the production of model airplanes than baseball cards. Among the challenges they faced was the packaging of these multi-dimensional items along with a checklist card. Topps reverted to their primary method of the wax pack and created an appropriately large, and visually impressive orange wrapper. One can only presume that the packaging process was fraught with difficulties, which likely contributed the minuscule lifespan of the issue. Today, any component of this issue is considered rare. This incredible artifact is one of a handful of unopened '68 Plaks wax packs that was discovered by SCP in our test issue "find" from 2002. The wrapper is tightly sealed, however there is some stain discoloration from water contact at the bottom of the pack. The original gum has also deteriorated to the point that small particles can fall out of the bottom when the pack is shaken. All things considered, still an incredibly rare pack in the history of Topps.
This un-opened pack sold in November of 2011 at an online auction website. Final bid price was $2,082. Below is the description from the site.

This exact PSA #14508417 was offered on Ebay June 2015 for $1,200 but did not sell.
A Few Vintage Cards More RARE than The Honus Wagner
It has been estimated that about 50 to 75 examples of the 1909 T206 Honus Wagner Exist. The T206 Wagner is the most famous and expensive trading card in the world. The following are just a few examples of cards rarer than the T206 Wagner. While you may have heard of one or two these cards, most are unknown to the general collecting public.
Frederick Foto Babe Ruth, circa 1921.
Three examples known. Little is known about this card and the set it came from. The card is about the size of a T206 card, and is comprised of a photograph pasted to a cardboard mount. There are over one hundred different cards in the set, most depicting players in the Pacific Coast League. Frederic Foto was the official photographer for the PCL’s Sacramento Senators, and the cards were distributed in Northern California. The purpose of the cards is unknown.
Ty Cobb M131 Baltimore News Series, circa 1911.
Only one example known. The M131 Baltimore News card has the same front images and set checklist as the 1911 E94 George Close Co. issue, but have the Baltimore News Logo on the back.

"Among the best preserved examples ever confirmed in the hobby, this intense PSA 5 is also one of just 27 copies ever assessed by PSA in over 20 years of professional grading. The technical condition is rather impressive for the grade with a spotless reverse and four essentially square corners. Very light touches to the extreme corner tops and a soft centering shift to the left are all the prevent an even higher grade. Values of this card have steadily increased, but in recent times the inherent rarity on comparative popularity of this card have become better realized and a steep upward trend has begun."
